Dr. Campbell, his family and staff would like to invite you to join us again for the William H. Craig Race for Life! Dr. Bill Craig was our business partner and dear friend who lost his long battle with cancer in 2007. It is great love that we gather together each year for this special event which helps us to raise money for the local YMCA and its camps, while remembering and honoring the memory of our dear friend.

This year's race will be held on Saturday, December 10th, 2010 at Greenfield Lake. Please plan to join us for this special 5 and 15K event! We appreicate your past support and look forward to seeing you all there to run the Race for Life!

The Smile for a Lifetime Board and Campbell Orthodontics would like to congratulate Katelyn West, our first Smile for a Lifetime orthodontic scholarship recipient! The Board of Directors reviewed many excellent applications of deserving, under-served children. The difficult decision was made based on need and letters of recommendation that accompanied the application. Dr. Campbell is the founder and orthodontic provider of The Smile for a Lifetime Foundation for Wilmington and the Tri-County area. Applications are currently being accepted and are available at www.campbellsmiles.com or www.s4l.org. The Board of Directors and Dr. Campbell plan to continue offering orthodontic scholarships to 7 more children in need in our community before the end of the year!

We Love Field Trips!

February is National Children's Dental Health Month and we are excited to welcome students back to our office for our Dental Health Field Trips! During these classroom visits we have the exciting opportunity of instructing students on the importance of good oral hygiene, while teaching them a little bit about the specialty of orthodontics. We always look forward to these special visits with elementary school students and their teachers. These trips always leave us smiling!

Dr. Craig had such a heart for children and therefore, the proceeds from this special event will go toward helping children with health complications attend The North Carolina Victory Junction Camp. Dr. Campbell returns from the Spear Education Meeting

Dr. Campbell, along with seven other Wilmington dentists, just returned from the Spear Education meeting in Scottsdale, Arizona. The course meeting titled, "Creating Esthetic Excellence," was taught by one of the world's most well-respected restorative dentists, Dr. Frank Spear. This two and a half day course proved to be an excellent learning experience for Dr. Campbell and this local group of dentists. On Friday, April 30th, 2010 The Mission of Mercy Dental Clinic was held at Wesley Memorial Methodist Church in Wilmington, NC. This yearly mobile dental clinic, organized by Wilmington dentist, Dr. Bob Plage and his wife Ann, allows residents of our community to receive free dental care for one weekend. Dr. Campbell (seen here in the Triage tent) was just one of many area dentists who volunteered their time to serve the community through this event. "The patients are so grateful to receive care. On Saturday, January 23rd, 2010 the 3rd Annual William H. Craig Race for Life was held at Autumn Hall. This year's race was another success...as almost 500 people participated in this special event.

The William H. Craig Race for Life

At Campbell Orthodontics, we live everyday with a sweet memory of an incredibly genuine and wonderfully loving man...Dr. William H. Craig. It is often difficult to describe his character without telling a story about him. He was just that unique of a person who lived everyday of his life by demonstrating "love in action."

To give you a brief history, Dr. Craig, known to so many as "Bill," started this orthodontic practice in 1986. In 2002, Dr. Craig and his wife Kathey, invited Dr. Campbell and his wife Holly, to join the team. They spent some very special years together, operating as Craig and Campbell Orthodontics and enjoying what was one of the deepest and most prized of friendships.

In March of 2007, after a long courageous fight, Dr. Craig lost his battle with leukemia and in turn, we lost part of our staff family. While we still have days when we experience deep loss because of his absence, our hearts are grateful that we were able to be "elbow to elbow" with him before his passing. For there is no doubt, his love and his legacy remain. We consider it a privilege to have known him and are thankful to be able to do something in his memory that will benefit children in need in Wilmington.

It is with great excitement and heartfelt passion that we invite you to join with us to participate in the Third Annual William H. Craig Race for Life.
